Who are we?

For 18 years, we have lived a dual reality. On a Saturday night and Sunday morning we might be standing on some of the biggest stages in Gospel music, hearing the roar of a crowd and feeling the "high" of a great performance.  But by Monday morning, the lights are off.  We are back home, staring at the bank accounts, figuring out how to cover the "out-of-pocket" costs of a ministry that often demands more than it pays.

This isn't just about the gas in the van/bus or the repair of the equipment.  This is about the "cost" of the soul.  As the years have passed, the "energy of youth" has been replaced by the "wisdom of experience," but also by the reality of health setbacks. We’ve sat together and wondered: “Why didn't we give this 100% to God twenty years ago when we were healthy and had all the energy in the world?  Did we miss our window?”

But as we look at the people we’ve reached, those who have fallen, those who are broken, those who just need a hand to pull them up, we realize something profound.  Twenty years ago, we had the talent to entertain, but we didn't have the heart to restore. The "Middle", those 18 years of "two steps forward and five steps back" wasn't a delay. It was a refining fire.  We had to learn that the anointing isn't a trophy to be carried.  It’s a weight to be endured. We’ve learned the hard way, “This AIN’T cheap”

As we travel along the highways, many people ask us how we make it all work. We'll be honest - brutally honest. We had to realize that this ministry isn't ours; it belongs to God. After struggles and disappointments, we learned that each of us is equally important. There are no "big I's" and "little U's" here. We're a family, united spiritually, even if not by physical bloodline. Like any family, we have differences, but we depend on each other in tough times and lean on each other when needed.

You might expect a politically correct statement with easy answers, but that's not us. We're sinners saved by God's grace, and that's what defines us. We sing because we enjoy it, but it's not who we are. Our desire isn't fame or fortune; it's to be a positive influence on society. We're different, and that's okay. We have one chance to do this right. Some of us have traveled professionally and seen how not to do it. We represent God in what we do, and though we're far from perfect, we pray that when we fall, you'll pray for us to get up, dust ourselves off, and continue doing what we're called to do. We love each of you and appreciate your prayers. We promise to pray for you too.
